The Experience
Dunes de Dovela Eco Lodge is Southern Mozambique’s only eco lodge surrounded by virgin coastal woodland. Situated 400 kilometers north of Maputo and 80 kilometers south of Inhambane, it offers seven all-inclusive tented luxury suites and bungalows overlooking the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean. The restaurant boasts a varied assortment of local fruits, vegetables and seafood in an exquisite fusion of Mozambican and French culinary traditions.
The lodge is at the center of a 100-hectare conservation area, rich in native Mozambican flora, fauna, and wildlife. This protected coastline, with its forest, dunes, lake, and the neighboring Dovela village, is home to 303 unique bird species, 30 tree types, vervet monkeys, mongoose, monitors, and bush babies. In this malaria-free setting with no predators, guests can explore the woodlands with guided walks, self-guided exploration, or from the bird hide.
The Indian Ocean stretch is home to sea turtles, manta rays, whale sharks, and humpback whales. From July to October, guests can enjoy unobstructed views of the humpback whale migration, watching dozens of whales breach and play while dining, sipping wine on their veranda, or relaxing on the beach. Dunes de Dovela offers a secluded yet easily accessible luxury eco-lodge experience in Southern Mozambique, promising tranquility and a deep connection with nature.
